La flèche d'or

I officially have a new favourite evening hangout. The place is called
La Fleche d'Or and used to be a small train station in a quartier populaire near Gambetta (20ieme) which was revamped and converted into a wicked bar and restaurant. The place still has an early 20th century feel to it, with ticket turnstiles and signposts d'origines. It kinda reminds me of Cafe Central in Madrid but with a unique locale and setting. The small resturant's terrace overlooks old, weed infested train tracks. There's live almost music every night, mostly funk and jazz, and often without a cover charge.  For guaranteed atmosphere, great local acts and a chill evening out with friends, this is the place.

Hallo Stefan!

Met up with my buddy Stefan for a stroll in Le Marais and  spent a really nice (albeit grey) afternoon. 

We also had a drink in my favourite bar/cafe/resto in Paris: the Café de l'Industrie in Bastille. This place is an institution here. A great mix of quirky art nouveau/50's retro decor with very chill 60's jazz in the background. Great to hang out on a Sunday afternoon.

CACAO SAMPAKA

For those of you who are in Madrid or who are planning to come here, there's a very cool resto/cafe/shop specialised in chocolate I just discovered just off the Plaza Santa Bárbara in c/ Orellana station (metro Alonso Martinez).  The decor's wicked, the menu very affordable, and best of all they offer degustations of their huge range of homemade chocolates. Chocolate lovers, take note of this!
