I officially have a new favourite evening hangout. The place is called
La Fleche d'Or and used to be a small train station in a quartier populaire near Gambetta (20ieme) which was revamped and converted into a wicked bar and restaurant. The place still has an early 20th century feel to it, with ticket turnstiles and signposts d'origines. It kinda reminds me of Cafe Central in Madrid but with a unique locale and setting. The small resturant's terrace overlooks old, weed infested train tracks.
There's live almost music every night, mostly funk and jazz, and often
without a cover charge. For guaranteed atmosphere, great local acts and a chill evening out with friends, this is the place.
